Privacy policy

What we collect about you, why, who else sees it, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do with it. Written to be read, not skimmed past.

What we collect

When you create an account

• Your email address, and the display name you choose.
• Your password — stored only as a one-way hash. Nobody here can read it.
• The referral code you registered with, if you used one.
• That you confirmed you are 18 or over, and which version of these terms and this policy you were shown.

When you move money

• The mobile money number you deposit from or withdraw to.
• Your bank details, if you withdraw to a bank account.
• Every deposit, stake, win, refund, fee and withdrawal on your account.

When you play

• Your matches: who you played, the moves, the scores, the timings and the result.

When you visit

• Your IP address, which our servers see on every request. We use it to limit how often one address can ask for things like password resets, and to count how many people are on the site. That count stores a one-way hash, not the address.
• If you turn on notifications, the address your browser gives us for sending them.

Why we use it

• To run your account and your games — signing you in, pairing you with opponents, settling matches and pools.
• To handle your money — deposits, payouts and refunds, and the records that prove each one happened.
• To keep games fair — spotting multiple accounts, collusion and impossible results. See fair play.
• To keep your account safe — confirming your email, resetting your password, asking for your password again before a withdrawal.
• To tell you what happened — receipts, results, and the notifications you choose on your account page.
• To send you news, only if you ask — new games and tournaments, by email, now and then. It is off unless you tick the box at registration or turn it on on your account page, and off again whenever you turn it off.
• Because the law requires it — financial records, and answering lawful requests from authorities.

We do not sell your information, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not give your address to anybody else to send you theirs.

Cookies

Only what the site needs to work:

• c8_play_session — keeps you signed in.
• c8_visitor — a random identifier, so a visitor is counted once in "online now".
• lang — the language you chose.

There are no advertising or analytics cookies, and no trackers from other companies.

Who else sees it

Only the companies that do part of the job for us, and only what that part needs:

• MTN MoMo — your mobile number and the amount, to take a deposit or pay a withdrawal.
• Your bank — the details needed to pay a bank withdrawal.
• Twilio SendGrid — your email address and the message, to deliver our emails. We have turned off open and click tracking.
• Google Cloud — hosts our servers and databases, in Johannesburg, South Africa.
• Your browser's push service (Google, Mozilla or Apple) — to deliver a notification, if you turned them on.

Other players see your display name and your results, never your email, number or balance. Someone you referred, or who referred you, never sees your details.

How long we keep it

• Your account — while it is open.
• Money records — for as long as the law requires financial records to be kept, even after your account is closed.
• Activity and security logs — about a year.
• Emails waiting to be sent — until they are sent, then deleted.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

• Show you what we hold about you.
• Correct anything that is wrong.
• Close your account and delete your information — except the money records the law makes us keep.
• Stop any email that is not about your account's security or your money. News and tournament reminders can be turned off from your account page, and tournament reminders from the link in any of them.

Write to support@crazy8s.live from the address on your account. If we cannot do what you ask — usually because the law makes us keep a record — we will tell you why.

Children

This site is for adults only. We do not knowingly hold information about anyone under 18; an account found to belong to someone underage is closed and its information deleted, apart from the money records we must keep.

Changes to this policy

When we change it, the new version appears here. If a change affects what we collect or who sees it, we will tell you by email or on the site before it takes effect.
